Preface: The exhibition "Paths into the past" presents the most important findings of the rescue excavations conducted prior to the contruction of the M3 motorway. ... Together with the colleagues from the Archaeological Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Archaeological Institute of the Eötvös Loránd University, this project called for the coordinated work of thirty-three archaeologists and specialists working in related disciplines, many technical experts, about seventy students of archaeology and several hundred workers. Over 150 archaeological sites were identified in the 175 km long investigated section of the M3 motorway. The finds from 21 of these sites were chosen for this exhibition. ... The Hungarian National Museum provided a truly excellent exhibiting space, providing a worthy setting for the exhibition and placing it one of the museums's focal points. ... |
