"The coronation of ... Solyman the Third" is a translation of Chardin's "Le couronnement de Soleiman troisième", first published in Paris in 1671. Includes index. First issue of the first English edition, with 'Directions for the book-binder for placing the cuts' in later, corrected state. A French edition was published simultaneously, but no more of the author's travels were issued before the Amsterdam edition of 1711. The plates, mostly folding, include additional, engraved title. |
