On the fist leaf handwritten note: "Die in diesem Band vereinigten Tafeln waren bestimmt, den 5ten Band von Tischbeins Vasen zu bilden. Jahn erhielt sie in Jahre 1853 von der Cottaschen Buchhandlung in München. Zu einer Herausgabe ist es nie gekommen, und dürfte dies das einzige erhaltene Exemplar sein". This plates should have been published by Tischbein as the 5th volume of the Collection of engravings from ancient vases. Jahn received them from the bookseller Cotta in 1853 in Munich, but the volume was never published. This could be the only existing copy. |
