"Part the first" is a 2nd edition of Ionian antiquities (1769), published 1821, augmenting the earlier work with 2 additional chapters and 14 additional plates, and reflecting some revisions and changes. Introd. to part 5 details the publishing history of the set. Pt. 1 was written and illustrated by R. Chandler, N. Revett, and W. Pars. Pt. 4 contains articles by J. Ferguson, C.T. Newton, R. Popplewell Pullan, W.W. Lloyd, and F.C. Penrose. Imprints vary: part 1: W. Bulmer and W. Nicol, 1821; part 3: W. Nicol, 1840; part 4: Macmillan and co., 1881. Pts. 1-4 have 205 leaves of plates in addition to pictorial head- and tail-pieces and vignettes. Each part lists current membership of the Society. 5. 1915 = Suppl. zu 3. |
