During his rule he built a network of fortresses, and delineated the boundaries of the Egyptian kingdom with Nubia (modern Sudan); He also established extensive trade and diplomatic relations with his eastern neighbors (Cyprus, Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, Israel, Palestine). Under Sesostris the Egyptian state was reinvented in depth.
